The triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1959 was a severe blow to US imperialism and to it's objectives. Cuba although not the first nation to rebel against imperial US, was the first one to truly liberate itself from the boots of uncle Sam. The US rulers afraid that other countries would follow Cuba's example of true independence, sovereignty and social justice, began to take drastic measures of aggression against the island. Utilizing all it's arsenal the monster began a war on all fronts. A war that included military aggression, terrorism, germ warfare, as well as, economic and psychological aggression.
The decades of the 60's and 70's can be characterized as the most brutal in terms of acts of terrorism. For at this time there were numerous acts of terrorism, originating mainly from Miami; all financed by "exile" groups and by Washington.
All of these terrorist groups like Omega 7, Alpha 66, ABDALA - which Rep. Congressman of Florida Lincoln Balart was a member - along with other groups carried out their evil deeds mostly from US soil. Most of the acts of terrorism against Cuba from Miami was pepetrated without much legal hindrance on part of Miami authorities. It must be added that even in the midst of the fight on terrorism these groups are tolerated, with the US authorities and agencies like the FBI looking the other way.
The most violent and bloodiest terrorist exile group CORU, under the directives of CIA trained agents Orlando Bosch and Posada Carriles, blew up in 1976 a commercial airliner of Cubana de Aviacion, in the process killing 73 innocent people.
It is important to note that most of these terrorist groups, which have committed terrorist attacks in and out of Cuba, like most exile groups, are led or have members who have had close ties to the CIA - some of them ex-CIA agents. Among some of the "leaders" who have been trained by the CIA are: Jose Basulto of the Brothers to the Rescue, Pepe Hernandez and Jorge Mas Canosa of the Cuban American National Foundation, Orlando Bosch of CORU and Frank Calzon of Freedom House. It must be added that some of these organizations have had dealings in drug trafficking and that some of the members have been linked to drugs.
With the Reagan presidency in 1981 the powers of the CIA which had been curbed by previous administrations were again expanded. In this framework, the Santa Fe document, which outlined new tougher policies designed toward Latin America and which prescribed new tactics against Cuba and Nicaragua, was written and passed. It is important to note that the reactionary elements within the White House like vice president and ex-CIA director George Bush Sr. and new CIA director William Casey, among others, eulogized the aggressive measures of this document.
At this time one of the coauthors of the the Santa Fe document, Roger Fontaine suggested the creation of an exile organization with the purpose of lobbying in Washington. Out of this idea was born the Cuban American Foundation (CANF), the most powerful, corrupt and antidemocratic group within the exile community.
In the aftermath of a decade of bloody acts of terrorism against Cuba, and in the face of world criticism, the extreme right of the US and Miami exile began to use new tactics. To save their image and to launch a new attack on the island they began a dirty war on the human rights front. For this new war they have utilized for more than four decades all the weapons of propaganda at their disposal to demonize and discredit Cuba and the Socialist government in the international arena. Despite all the rhetoric and diplomacy used by the exile organizations and their directors, despite the nice sounding names of these groups, the real purpose of these groups is to defeat the Cuban revolution, to take bloody reprisals against the Cuban people ( 3 days of blood as announced by exile groups on Miami radio stations) and to bring back the old guard of Batista and their offspring - as is the case of Congressman Lincoln Balart, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Letihnen and Ninoska Perez of the CANF, all children of high ranking officials of Batista's government.
All should know well that all the the attacks against Cuba in the human rights arena is a smokescreen to impose their agendas on the island and that all the dirty war, the mafias and the international intrigues related to the exile groups and their leaders are supported and funded by Washington and it's allies, with most of the directors of these exile human rights groups in and out of Cuba receiving payments and perks from Washington and the mafia from Miami.
Know also that these organizations in and out of Cuba who are often portrayed as being large groups are in reality groups which consists mainly of a few members, some of them having one or two members. This is specially true in Cuba where these groups don't have popular support.
Many of the members of these groups use their "dissident" and political prisoner status not only to receive an income but as a fast and efficient way of receiving a US visa and leaving the island. The "dissidents" who are not receiving perks from the US and from the right wing Miami groups is so small that they lose their credibility as an honest force of opposition against the Cuban revolution. They are seen in Cuba as rogues, opportunists and political mercenaries that don't represent the Cuban people.
Below are links to people and organizations related to the Cuban exile. Most of them with a questionable past. Some of them are known terrorists with evil past who have miraculously turned into pacifists, defenders of human rights. And even though most of them hide themselves behind the mask of human rights they still maintain ties with those groups which have a bloody history of terrorist attacks against the Cuban people.
It may seem that calling them a mafia is a bit extreme but after reading below and reading other links on exile terrorism in and out of the US you may agree.
